FORT SMITH – We now have a better idea of what is going into the old Wishbone’s location at 509 Garrison Avenue in downtown Fort Smith.

A new corporation called Five Zero Nine No. 1, Inc. Is in the process of filing for a private club license with the Arkansas Alcoholic Beverage Commission to install a nightclub into the location. Earlier this year when building permits were filed with the city, reports indicated that it would be called the “5-0-9”. But now, owner Chris Chisum says in his application that the establishment will be called “Muse Bar and Nightclub”.

Earlier this year, State Senator Eddie Joe Williams (R-Cabot) got a bill passed through the legislature that forced applicants for a private club to get the nod from their city to even apply. So now, part of Chisum’s application hinges on approval from the Fort Smith Board of Directors, who will take up the issue at their meeting tomorrow night.

In a memo to City Administrator Carl Geffken on Thursday, City Finance Director Jennifer Walker said that the staff recommendation is to give Chisum the green light.

“The private club permit will allow the sale of liquor, wine, and beer on premise. Business License staff has reviewed the application and supporting documents and determined that the corporation has completed a business license application and is in good standing with the City of Fort Smith.” Walker stated. “The owner expects the business license to be completed by the date of the Board of Director’s meeting on November 7, 2017. Per discussion with the owner, Mr. Chisum plans to apply for a 2am private club permit with the ABC office.”

A Facebook page has been established for “Muse Bar & Nightclub”, however the social media presence appears to be in the initial stages of development.
