A Warren man was killed and two other people were injured and taken to an area hospital just before midnight on Friday in an accident near mile marker 17 on I40 in Crawford County.

Marlon A. Jackson, 34, of Warren succumbed to injuries he sustained in the two-vehicle accident that occurred in the eastbound lane of I-40 between Alma and Dyer. Jackson was a passenger in a 2002 Ford Escape driven by 19-year-old Kendarious Lacy, also of Warren.

The Arkansas State Police preliminary fatal crash summary states the Escape and a 2006 Saab driven by James Jackson of Fort Smith were both eastbound when James Jackson attempted to pass Lacy in the outside lane. Both vehicles lost control and entered the median and overturned and Marlon Jackson was ejected .

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Lacy and James Jackson were both uninjured in the accident, according to the report by Trooper Josh Elmore.

Elmore stated that road conditions were clear and dry at the time of the accident.

Jackson’s death is the 187th in the state this year resulting in a fatality.
