FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas Women’s Golf will be well represented at the 2019 Walmart Northwest Arkansas Championship presented by Proctor & Gamble, which returns to Pinnacle Country Club June 24-30. Former Razorbacks Kaylee Benton, Maria Fassi, Gabriela Lopez, Stacey Lewis and Alana Uriell will be in the field, while Dylan Kim and Brooke Matthews will play in the qualifying round on Monday, June 24, to try and gain entry. Official tournament play will begin on June 28.

Fassi received a sponsor’s exemption by claiming the individual title at the 2019 Women’s NCAA Division I National Championships. In addition to her national title, Fassi was named the SEC Player of the Year and an All-SEC First-Teamer after winning the SEC’s Individual Title. This will be Fassi’s third appearance in the #NWAChampionship, but her first as a professional.

Benton, meanwhile, claimed a sponsor’s exemption through the tournament’s Road to the #NWAChampionship program. With Fassi securing a spot in the tournament field after the NCAA Championships, Benton was awarded a sponsor’s exemption as the top-ranked Razorback golfer not already in the field. Benton was excellent during her senior season, as she was named a First-Team All-SEC member and Second-Team All-American. The #NWAChampionship will be Benton’s professional debut.

Matthews and Kim, who will be competing against each other for the opportunity to play in the tournament, were both excellent during the 2018-19 season. Matthews was named to the SEC’s All-Freshman team after taking a redshirt a year ago, while Kim was named First-Team All-SEC.

Lewis, the current Volunteer Coach and former Razorback star, won the event back in 2014, while competing in every #NWAChampionship since its inception back in 2007. Lopez, meanwhile, returns to Arkansas for the sixth straight year, while Uriell comes back after not competing last season.
