FORT SMITH - In Arkansas, we usually wear some shade of red for the Razorbacks, but on Friday the reasons might be a bit different. Across the nation, it is National “Wear Red” Day for thousands of people.
Area hospitals took to social media this week to explain.
“National Wear Red Day is this Friday! Through the Go Red For Women movement, the American Heart Association hopes to raise awareness for women’s heart health.” Oklahoma based Bailey Medical Center said. “About 80 percent of cardiovascular diseases may be prevented by monitoring your numbers (BMI, cholesterol, blood sugar, blood pressure), knowing your family health history and adapting to a healthier lifestyle. Don’t forget to wear your red on Friday!”
Mercy Hospital in Fort Smith will be holding a heart seminar next week to follow up on some of the other activities. Details are as follows:
