Duane “Dak” Kees

FORT SMITH - President Trump’s nominee has been confirmed as the new United States Attorney for the Western District of Arkansas.

Duane “Dak” Kees, 42, has been a corporate attorney for Wal-Mart and has directed their global ethics and compliance division for several years. He was recommended by both of Arkansas’ Senators to the White House, including John Boozman.

“Dak Kees has led a distinguished career in service to our country. He is well prepared for this new role to enforce and uphold our nation’s laws. I look forward to working with him to combat crime and make our communities safer,” Boozman said in a statement.

The office has been vacant since 2015, when Connor Eldridge resigned to run for the United States Senate. His campaign against Boozman was unsuccessful.

According to the release, Kees has served in the United States Army as a brigade judge advocate and a senior defense attorney.
