FORT SMITH - UAFS men’s basketball coach Justin Bailey has announced the signing of prep standout Evan Anderson to an NCAA Division II letter-of-intent during the recent early signing period.

Anderson, a 6-foot-1 guard from Carollton, Texas, is a senior this season at Class 6A Hebron High School.

“I am very excited to add a kid like Evan to our program. Evan can flat out shoot the ball and has unlimited range. He also has a great IQ and feel for the game overall,” Bailey said.

As a junior, Anderson averaged eight points, 1.8 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game. He shot 58 percent from the field and 40 percent from 3-point range.

“He has the opportunity to come in as a freshman and contribute right away with his ability to put the ball in the basket,” Bailey said. “More importantly, he is a better person than player. He fits our culture that we are establishing here and is coming in with a 4.0 GPA and a 24 on the ACT.”
