A 47-year-old Danville resident who stands accused of two counts of murder in the first degree deaths of two Danville women was arraigned and held over on $2 million bond Thursday in Yell County Circuit Court.
Mark Alan Watts is accused in the June 2 deaths of sisters Martha Jane Veazey, 63, and Phyllis Ann Chambers, 55, at their residence located at 706 West Highway 10 in Danville.
The Arkansas State Police were called in to investigate the case and after the bodies were autopsied at the Arkansas State Crime Lab investigators learned that both women died as a result of blunt force trauma.
Watts was arrested Tuesday, July 25 after he was developed as a suspect by the ASP investigation. He was transported to the Yell County Detention Center and held without bond prior to Thursday’s court proceedings.
A plea arraignment hearing has been set for August 3 in Yell County Circuit Court in Danville.
