FORT SMITH - A suspect has been taken into custody in the Tuesday night shooting that left three victims wounded.

The Fort Smith Police Department said Wednesday night that a 17-year-old juvenile suspect was behind bars after an investigation pointed to him as the responsible party.

“After following up with witnesses, the information attained led investigators to a residence on the 2100 block of North H Street, where the 17-year-old suspect was believed to be inside,” the Department said in a release. “After setting a perimeter around the home and coordinating through family, the suspect came peacefully to headquarters.”

The Department said during the initial phase of the incident, 19-year-old Enrique Rodriguez was arrested for obstructing governmental operations. The 17-year-old has requested an attorney and faces multiple charges: one count of first-degree battery, two counts second-degree battery, and possession with purpose to deliver (marijuana found inside the home during a consent to search).
