Mansfield- An employee of an area juvenile Center was placed under arrest yesterday after he allegedly assaulted a male detainee in the presence of Sheriff’s Deputies.
The situation began around 6:30 PM, when Sebastian County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to the Mansfield Juvenile Center in reference to a fight between several juveniles on March 17th, 2019.
Deputies report the fight was already broken up by staff members when they arrived. Upon investigating the incident, Deputies were advised a fight had taken place between male and female juvenile detainees and one staff member had been injured. A female detainee was also reported to have allegedly tried to escape during the altercation.
Deputies who were at the scene say they witnessed a staff member assault one of the male detainees at the facility while they were conducting interviews.
“As they were going to speak to another male detainee, deputies witnessed a staff member told one of the males to be questioned to sit down,” said Captain P Pevehouse with the Sebastian County Sheriff’s Office. “The detainee was handcuffed behind his back. As the deputies watched, the staff member kicked the detainee in his thigh area and forced him to the ground.”
Caleb Davis, 25, of Huntington, was placed under arrest for Third Degree Battery. Deputies report Huntington advised them he was the staff supervisor on duty.
Davis was booked in the Sebastian County Adult Detention Center on a $1000.00 bond. Davis has since bailed out.
A 16 year old male at the scene was placed under arrest for Second Degree Battery. A 14 year old female at the scene was also placed under arrest for Third Degree Attempted escape. The juvenile detainees who were arrested were both taken to the Sebastian County Juvenile Detention Center.
