VAN BUREN - Longtime area attorney Candice Settle has announced that she will be a candidate for a newly created Circuit Judge division in Crawford County.
“I am proud to announce that I am running for Division III Circuit Court Judge! It is a new position for Crawford County. Thank you to our legislators for their hard work in achieving this new position for our county!” Settle said in an announcement on social media.
“I have the experience, qualifications, and background that Crawford County needs for Judge. I have been a prosecutor, have tried civil and bench trials in federal and state court, have been a City Attorney for many years, have sat in as Judge in numerous cases in Crawford and Sebastian County, and have taught law at the University of Arkansas—Fort Smith.”
Settle has been a partner in the Settle and Jernigan Law Firm, where she has tried numerous cases in Crawford and Sebastian County. She is a current member of the Van Buren School Board, and has served as an elected part-time city attorney for the City of Van Buren.
In her announcement, she credited her late father for instilling good values in her from childhood.
“My father, George Cabaniss, instilled in me the ideal of being the ethical professional.” Settle said. “I will bring that integrity and character to the bench to ensure justice for every Crawford County citizen!”
