FORT SMITH - Longtime Fort Smith automobile dealer Harry Robinson is getting high honors from his colleagues, and there could be more coming.
The Arkansas Auto Dealer’s Association announced Monday that Robinson was their “Auto Dealer Of The Year”. The organization has also nominated Robinson for the Time Magazine National Dealer Of The Year award.
The Houston, Mississippi native worked and managed car dealerships both in his home state and in Hammond, Louisiana prior to purchasing the local Pontiac dealership in 1984. He acquired the rights to the Buick line in 1986, and then to the GMC brand in 2009.
Robinson has been known for his investments in local advertising. For many years, listeners on local radio stations could sing along to his jingle, “It’s never scary when you’re buying from Harry”.
According to a release, Robinson will be honored at a national convention to be held in Las Vegas in March.
