Retired Fort Smith police officer Alvin Bradley passed away on Wednesday morning.

Bradley, one of the few African-Americans to work in a supervisory role for the FSPD, retired as a major.

“Alvin was one of the best police officers in the history of Fort Smith,” attorney Sam “Chip” Sexton and current chairman of the Fort Smith Civil Service Commission, said.

Bradley, who was a huge advocate for youth and involved with youth sports for a number of years, is almost a legendary figure for some of the exploits he went though during his career.

Information on funeral services will be forthcoming as they are made available.
