FORT SMITH - The National Weather Service’s Tulsa forecast office is preparing for the possibility of rain and thunderstorms across the area today.

“Widespread showers and isolated thunderstorms will spread across the region tonight through Wednesday morning.” Forecasters said in their Hazardous Weather Outlook Tuesday night. “The highest rain chances and highest rainfall amounts are forecast north of Interstate 40.”

Meteorologists say that after the rainfall moves through, a dry and pleasant weekend is expected. Thunderstorms could be back in the forecast as early as Monday.
