The Poteau Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in finding a Poteau man who has been missing for more than 40 hours.
Shawn Carnahan was reported missing from his residence in Poteau. Shawn was last seen on Saturday around 5:30 a.m. leaving his house in his mother-in-law’s vehicle.
The vehicle was located by Poteau officers on Polk Creek Street (in the Cavanal area) at approximately 8:30 that morning. Shawn was not with the vehicle and no report had been filed at that time so the vehicle was logged as abandoned.
Later, after the report had been filed, officers returned to the vehicle and found it to be operational.
Officers from the Poteau Police Department, LeFlore County Sheriff’s Office, and family members conducted a search of the area today with no sign of Shawn.
