A 22-year-old Fort Smith man charged with felony first degree battery in the stabbing of a 23-year-old local resident on Wednesday was released from the Sebastian County Adult Detention Center after posting a $25,000 bond according to jail records.
Steven T. Nguyen was arrested after William Strassman III told police that Nguyen had stabbed him the in the 3100 block of North Pointe Place a shortly after 4:30 p.m on Wednesday.
Police located and jailed the the suspect in less than three hours after the incident occurred.
No information about a possible motive in the stabbing is available.
Strassman drove himself to a local hospital. There are conflicting reports on his condition at this time.
A cursory background check on Nguyen reveals nothing on his record in the state of Arkansas rather than traffic citations in Crawford County.
