FORT SMITH - Representatives of the OG&E utility company are doing good for the community as they spent Wednesday working with the Salvation Army to distribute 75 electric fans in the Fort Smith area, and also Alma Community Outreach to give 50 fans to residents of that community.

The work is part of an initiative to distribute some 1,225 fans to residents across both Oklahoma and Western Arkansas. OG&E spent the past week moving fans to residents in Enid, Ardmore, Pauls Valley, and Oklahoma City.

“For over a decade, OG&E has provided 1,000 electric fans each summer to low-income and silver residents in 12 communities across Oklahoma and western Arkansas.” the utility provider said via its’ website. “Using a fan can keep residents cool while reducing costs.”

To receive a fan, applicants must have photo ID, proof of all members of their household and proof of address. The proof of address must be dated within the last 30 days.
