Nine deaths in eight traffic accidents this past week pushed the statewide total for highway fatalities to 413 on the year, with the latest being a Rock Island man who was killed in a one car accident on State Highway 10 in Sebastian County on Saturday. Including that death, three of the fatal accidents were in the local region.
A 62-year old Rock Island man lost his life in a 9:31 a.m. accident on Saturday when the 2005 Ford he was driving east on Arkansas State Highway 10 in Sebastian County left the roadway and collided with a tree, according to Arkansas State Police preliminary crash report.
The victim was identified as Daniel Rush, who was the driver and lone occupant of a 2005 Ford in the single car crash.
According to the report by ASP trooper Joshua Porter the conditions were clear and the roadway was dry at the time of the accident.
Michael K. McBride, 20, of Magnolia died about 6:26 a.m. Saturday in a two-vehicle wreck on Arkansas 19 near Hixson Lumber.
According to a preliminary Arkansas State Police report, McBride was driving a 2003 Honda Civic south on the highway. As he attempted to pass another vehicle, his vehicle collided head-on in the northbound lane with a 1999 Mercury Marquis driven by Ronnie B. Henderson, 57, of Haynesville, LA.
McBride was killed. Henderson and his passenger, Keaunti M Crittenden, 38, of Springhill, LA, were injured and taken to Magnolia Regional Medical Center.
Rene S. Ayala, 29, of Rogers died, according to Arkansas State Police.
Shortly before 3 p.m., Ayala was driving a motorcycle east along Arkansas 12 east of Rogers on the Beaver Lake Bridge, according to ASP.
While on a sharp curve, he passed in a “no passing zone” and was struck head-on by a Nissan truck that was traveling west, according to ASP.
Police said the Nissan was driven by Rodney Robertson, 47, also of Rogers. Robertson was injured and taken to Mercy Hospital in Rogers for treatment.
A portion of that road was closed for about six hours while workers cleaned the scene.

A Ctritten County ascident on Wednesay claimed he lile of an Illinois woman on Wednesday.
Barbara Boehm of Spring Valley, Illinois., 78, died in after her sport utility vehicle hit a barrier wall on Interstate 55 in West Memphis according to information from the ASP.
Boehm was driving south on the interstate about 2:30 p.m. when her 2014 Chevrolet Equinox struck the barrier wall, careened across the inside lane, left the interstate, and eventually came to rest on the surface of the interstate.
A Lawrence County woman died in a car crash Tuesday evening on Highway 63.
According to an Arkansas State Police Fatal Crash Summary, Gabrielle Gates, 18, of Black Rock was driving north on Highway 63 in a 2006 Nissan around 6:45 p.m. when she lost control in a curve, overturned, and hit a tree.
The crash report stated the weather conditions were clear and the road was dry at the time of the crash.
No other injuries were reported.
Two Arkadelphia residents died about 6:21 p.m. Tuesday in a two-vehicle wreck on Arkansas 7 north of Bismarck in Hot Spring County.
According to a preliminary Arkansas State Police report, two vehicles were negotiating a curve from opposite directions when a northbound 2017 Nissan, driven by Felix Bai, 36, of Arkadelphia, crossed the center line and struck a southbound 2008 Toyota, driven by James R. Hopkins, 66, of Arkadelphia.
Hopkins died at the scene and his wife, Kimberly D. Hopkins, 56, died later. A minor female in the vehicle with the Hopkins was also injured and taken to Arkansas Children’s Hospital. The child was not identified in the Arkansas State Police report.
Bai was injured and taken to a hospital.
A Checotah , Oklahoma man is dead and a Bradfiord man is in jail in Franklin County after a multiple car accident on Interstate 40 just east of he Mulberry exit on Monday.
Arkansas State Police preliminary report says 31-year-old David Ray Thomason of Bradford was driving in the westbound lane of I-40 when he hit two vehicles, the second of which took the life of Guy Holden, 68, of Chouteau,
Holden died at the scene and his wife, 68 year-old Patsy Holden, and was transported to a Fort Smith hospital. Thomason was also taken to the hospital fro treatment before being taken to the Franklin County Detention Center.
As od 1 p.m. Sunday, Thomason remained jailed on a no bond hold on charges including accidents involving death or personal injury, aggravated assault, homicide-murder in the first degree, DWI, fleeing, reckless driving and theft by receiving. The truck he was driving during the time of the accident was stolen.
