FORT SMITH- Police have released an incident report in connection to a possible shooting that took place during the early morning hours of February 25th, 2019.

Fort Smith Police announced yesterday that an incident was under investigation following their response to a call claiming a head injury, possibly the result of a gunshot.

“The male victim was responding and has been transported to a local hospital for treatment,” said the Fort Smith Police Department in a Facebook post on Monday.

According to the incident report Police arrived at the scene on Barry Ave. around 5:50 AM and made contact with a victim who “appeared to have been in a fight” and had blood coming from his forehead. Officers report that the victim refused to give any information about what had happened to him or where the incident took place.

Officers made contact with a friend of the victim who claimed he thought the incident had taken place across from Cheers Liquor on Rogers Ave, according the report.

Upon further investigation, Police were able to obtain the name of a suspect and an address for suspects mother. Officers then went to the residence on Rogers Ave. to search for the suspect.

Officers report they were given consent to search the apartment by the occupants and found what appeared to be blood drops just inside the door. The suspect was still not located at the residence.

Occupants of the apartment claimed they did not hear anything because they were asleep, according to the report.

Names of the victim and the suspect were redacted from the report. It is still not clear at this time who was involved with the incident, the exact circumstances, or what type of altercation took place.

This is a developing story and we will continue to release details as they become available.
