The body of 52-year old Kevin Birdwell, who was reported missing from his rural Polk County home last week, has been located in Chicot County.
A fisherman found Birdwell’s body at approximately 8 p.m. on Saturday floating in the Mississippi River.
Birdwell’s body was found near the bank of the river southeast of Eudora. The body has been been sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab to identify a cause of death.
Birdwell’s body was found more than 240 miles away from his cabin in Polk County
Birdwell, a resident of Board Camp, was last heard from on Wednesday, July 12, 2017, when his girlfriend spoke to him via phone. When she could not reach him on Thursday, July 13, she sent neighbors to check on him on Thursday evening, and reported him as missing on Friday morning.
The Polk County sheriff’s office said there were no signs of foul play at Birdwell’s cabin and that his truck, motorcycle, and dog were all there when they were searching for him on Friday.
Birdwell is originally from Springhill, Louisiana, and officials say he has residences in both Louisiana and Polk County.
This is a breaking story and more details will be released as they become available.
