Michael Dean ‘M.D.’ Peoples, 65, Greenwood

Michael Dean “M.D.” Peoples, 65, of Greenwood, died May 10, 2017 in Fort Smith. He was born March 18, 1952 in Conway to Clayton Dell “C.D.” and Bonnie Jean Elmore Peoples.

M.D. was a graduate of Southside High School where he was a star athlete, he attended two years of college, and had careers in radio, Carpet Cabin, ABC Floors, and was the owner of ABC Consignment.

He could talk to anyone and remembered everyone’s name. He could make everyone laugh, but was also a baby whisperer and known to his family as Papa Michael.

He is survived by his wife, Karen of the home; three daughters, Angela and husband Wes Sawyer of Fort Smith, Beth and husband Scott Mackivitch of Virginia, and Leslie James of Minnesota; one son, Jonathan and wife Amber Stout of Stillwater, Oklahoma; his mother, Bonnie Peoples of Fort Smith; one sister, Gina Driscoll of Fort Smith; one brother, Steve and wife Sandy Peoples of Fort Smith; nine grandchildren, Christopher Stout, Marshall James, Colin James, David James, Levi Mackivitch, Colby Mackivitch, Iris Stout, Aspen Stout and Ava Sawyer; and three great-grandchildren, Leya Mackivitch, Mahalia Wayt and Gabriel Stout. He was preceded in death by his father, Reverend C.D. Peoples.

Memorial service will be Monday, May 15, 2017 at 11 a.m. in the First Baptist Church of Greenwood under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home. Burial is prior to the memorial service.

The family will greet friends at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday from 2-4 PM.
