Melanie B. Adams passed away on May 24, 2017 in Fort Smith, Arkansas, at the age of 74, from Parkinson’s Disease. Melanie was born Oct. 28, 1942, in Chicago, Illinois.
Melanie was a lifelong teacher and librarian. She retired from the Fort Smith Public Schools where she taught at Belle Point, Carnell, Cook, and Morrison Schools.
Her family will always remember her for her deep faith, love of education, reading and literacy, her dedication to her family and friends and her love of the Fort Smith community. She was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church for 39 years.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert H. (Bob) Adams, and her parents, Margaret and Frank Wojs.
She is survived by four children; Karin Bara and husband Ron of Little Rock, Robert Adams and wife Connie Wurzbacher of Kings Mills, Ohio, Susan Norman and husband Paul of Fort Smith, Thomas Adams and wife Melissa of Liberty, Missouri; one sister, Francine Wojs Cullotta of Mt. Prospect, Illinois; one brother, Dennis Wojs of Mountain Center, California; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
A Rosary is planned for Friday, June 2nd at 1:30 p.m. with a Memorial Mass to follow at 2 p.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church Chapel in Fort Smith. Services and cremation are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
The family would like to thank all of the medical professionals, especially the nursing and care staff at Methodist Health and Peachtree Hospice, who provided care to her during her extended illness with Parkinson’s Disease.
