NORMAN — One of the most popular traditions surrounding the Oklahoma football program is returning to a Friday. The 2019 version of Meet the Sooners Day, sponsored by Kona Ice, will be held the afternoon of Aug. 2 at Gaylord Family – Oklahoma Memorial Stadium. The annual free event gives OU fans a unique opportunity to interact with their favorite players.
While OU appreciates the tremendous support from Sooners fans of all ages, in order to accommodate as many young fans as possible, Meet the Sooners Day will again be offered to children ages 14 and younger. Each child may be accompanied by a maximum of one adult, but adults will not be permitted to submit items for autographs.
As has been the case for several years, a Sooner Jr. Kids Club autograph session will begin 30 minutes prior to the general public session. The Kids Club autograph session will begin at 1 p.m., while general patrons will be admitted at 1:30 p.m. The session will conclude at 3 p.m. for everyone.
Each child may bring one item to be signed, and there will be no exceptions.
A line for the general public will form at Gate 4 on the stadium’s northwest corner beginning at noon. The line will flow under the Asp Avenue Parking Facility on the west side of the stadium.
SOONER SCHOONER
In addition to OU players and coaches signing autographs, the Sooner Schooner (with Boomer and Sooner) will be on hand for photographs during Meet the Sooners Day.
THE SOONER SHOP
OU’s recently remodeled official store, The Sooner Shop, will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. the day of the event. The Sooner Shop is located on the bottom level of the Asp Avenue Parking Facility, just outside Gate 3 of Gaylord Family – Oklahoma Memorial Stadium.
KONA ICE
Kona Ice will be on site from noon to 3 p.m. selling a variety of shaved ice options.
Concessions stands will not be serving food, but free water will be available. Patrons will also be allowed to bring their own bottled water to the event, but no other outside food or beverage items will be permitted. Public restrooms will be available for fans in attendance.
PARKING
Parking will be available in the Jenkins Avenue Parking Facility (southeast of Lindsey/Jenkins intersection) and campus surface lots east of Gaylord Family – Oklahoma Memorial Stadium. The Asp Avenue Parking Facility will not be available due to renovations.
TICKET OFFICE
The OU Athletics Ticket Office will be open regular hours (8 a.m. to 5 p.m.) on the day of the event.
