FORT SMITH – Mayor George McGill has announced that Fort Smith native and Auburn University Head Football Coach Gus Malzahn will be the keynote speaker at his annual prayer breakfast. The event will be held Friday July 19th, at 6:15 AM at the Doubletree Hotel Conference Center.
Malzahn is a 1984 graduate of Fort Smith Christian High School, and played football at both the University of Arkansas and Henderson State University before becoming one of the state’s most highly regarded high school coaches with stops at Shiloh Christian and Springdale. He has been the head coach at Auburn since 2013, with one year in the same position at Arkansas State University.
Malzahn is seen nationwide as one of the foremost experts on the “hurry up, no huddle” offense.
