FORT SMITH – UAFS senior guard DaVaunta Thomas has been named First Team D2CCA All-South Central Region for his performance this past season.
Thomas was one of three Heartland Conference players to receive All-South Central Region honors. St. Edward’s junior guard Landon Goesling was named First Team All-South Central Region, and Lubbock Christian junior forward Brennan Fowler was named Second Team All-South Central Region.
The Tulsa, Okla., native averaged 14.1 points, 6.9 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.1 steals per game for the Lions. He shot 48 percent from the field (146 for 304), 32 percent from 3-point range (36 for 112) and 75 percent from the free-throw line (94 for 125).
He was 11th in the conference in scoring and sixth in rebounding.
Thomas was named First Team All-Heartland Conference and Heartland Conference Player of the Year. He helped lead the Lions to a 24-6 overall record and the single-season school record for the wins in a season during the NCAA Division II era and guided the Lions to a berth in the NCAA Division II National Tournament.
