Late reports from State Police up state highway death toll

Two reports filed late last week detail a pair of accidents that resulted in the death of a Berryville woman and a North Little Rock man, bringing the state total for highway related fatalities to 144 for the year.

Two reports filed late by the Arkansas State Police last week detail a pair of accidents that resulted in the death of a 25-year old Berryville woman and a 56-year old North Little Rock, bringing the state total for highway related fatalities to 144 for the year.

A hit-and run-accident claimed the life of 25-year old Courtney R. Henrichson on Friday along Ark. Hwy. 21-South of the Oak Grove Community in Carroll County.

The report was delayed until law enforcement officials could notify the victim’s next of kin.

According to the report, Henrichson was walking on or near the roadway just before midnight when she was struck by an unknown vehicle which left the scene.

The victim was found by another pedestrian but was pronounced dead at the scene by Carroll County Coroner Jim Capps.

The investigation into the hit-and-run continues.

Law enforcement officials would like to talk to anybody who might have information about the accident.

Robert K. Jones of North Little Rock died Sunday afternoon just after 6 p.m. in a one car accident on Ark. Hwy 79 one-half mile south of Ulm in Prairie County.

The 1998 Ford F150 pick-driven by Jones was traveling southbound on Hwy. 79 and failed to negoiate a curve.

The truck left the roadway to the north, overturned several times and crossed both lanes, ejecting the driver before coming to rest on the driver’s side in the south ditch.

Trooper Rodney Davenport reported that road conditions were clear and dry at the time of the accident.
