FORT SMITH – A pair of UAFS volleyball players have earned Heartland Conference honors for their performances during the Lady Lions’ conference wins against Dallas Baptist and St. Edward’s last week.

Senior setter Susannah Kelley was named Setter of the Week, and junior libero Autumn Reese was named Defensive Player of the Week.

Kelley collected 84 assists during the Lady Lions’ two wins and averaged 12 assists per set. Kelley racked up 53 assists in a four-set victory against St. Edward’s. She also had 22 digs overall and averaged 3.14 digs per set.

This is Kelley’s third Setter of the Week honor this season.

Reese had 72 digs, including 44 digs in a four-set win against St. Edwards, and averaged 10.29 digs per set during the two matches. Her 44 digs were the most digs in a single match this season in the Heartland Conference. Reese has the top three dig totals in the conference this season.

This is her third weekly honor this season.

UAFS (12-5, 3-0) is in sole possession of first place in the conference and leads the league by one match over Newman (8-10, 2-1) and St. Mary’s (7-8, 2-1). The Lady Lions will host league foes Texas A&M International and St. Mary’s on Thursday andSaturday, respectively, to finish their current three-match home stand.
