FORT SMITH - Our Emergency Children’s Shelter committee is hard at work year around planning different trips and experiences for the children residing at the Emergency Children’s Shelter. If you are not familiar with the shelter, please click this link to learn more https://childrensemergencyshelter.org/, then continue reading below to learn how the Junior League of Fort Smith supports this non-profit.

Twice a month, members of the Junior League will host, plan, and provide an outing for the children currently staying at the shelter. Some of the things we have done in the past include:
• Roller Skating
• Working in a community garden
• Halloween parties including s’mores and pumpkin carving
• Trips to the movie theater
• School clothes shopping
• Bowling
• Parties at the shelter
• Cookie decorating
• Trips to the county fair
And the list goes on.

The purpose of these outings are to provide these children with an exciting experience through a difficult and sometimes scary time. We want these children to just be kids and give them a break from the reality they are currently faced with.

As you can imagine, these outings can be a significant cost for the league. If this is a program you would like to support financially, click the link below and donate to our #GivingTuesday campaign. We would love to be able to provide these children with more fun experiences as the years go on. We do have a giving level titled “Emergency Childrens Shelter” that will designate your donation to this specific project.
Thanks in advance for your support!!!
