James “Jim” E. Ashworth, 91, of Central City, passed away Saturday, December 17th, 2016 in Fort Smith. He was born July 22, 1925 in Paris, AR to the late James C. and Virgie A. Ashworth. He was a retired
Mechanic from Camp Chaffee. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Lavaca, AR. He was a Marine Veteran of World War II. He was preceded in death by his wife Rose Marie Ashworth and a grandson Aaron Dempsey.

Funeral service will be 12 Noon Wednesday at the First Baptist Church in Lavaca, AR with burial to follow at Fort Smith National Cemetery with Military Honors under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home in Fort Smith.

He is survived by two daughters Susan Atkins Ashworth of Fort Smith and Lisa Billingsley and husband Jay of Lavaca, one sister Audrey Brewer of Greenwood, five grandchildren Eric Dempsey and wife Holly of Lavaca, MaRae Jones ad husband Scott of Pocola, Michelle Werschem and husband Mac of Lavaca, Shannon Kendrick and husband Kyle of Lavaca and Aimee Hamilton and husband David of Lavaca, nineteen great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Eric Dempsey, Marc Werschem, David Hamilton Scott Jones, Chris Ashworth and Marty Ashworth.

The family will visit with friends Tuesday evening from 5:30 PM-7:00 PM at Edwards Funeral Home.
