Lovett, Jack C., age 96, of Ballwin, formerly of Fort Smith, passed away, Monday, January 14, 2019. He was born in Peno, Oklahoma, a son of the late Bart and Eula (nee Elkins) Lovett. Jack retired after 46 years of service as International Vice President for the Communication Workers of America (AFL-CIO), and also retired in 1983, with almost 40 years of service, as a Lt. Colonel with the Arkansas Air National Guard. He was a Reserve Air Force Officer, serving in WWII and the Korean conflict.
He was a Methodist, member of Sebastian Lodge 706, Western Arkansas Consistory in Fort Smith, a Shriner and a member of the Moolah Temple in St. Louis. A Life member of the National Guard and the Retired Officers Association.
Jack was the beloved husband of Sarah Jimmie (nee Waters) Lovett, who preceded him in death November 16, 2009; the dear father of J. Bart (Elizabeth) Lovett and the late Leslie Steven Lovett; loving grandfather to Jack Colin (Brett Murray) Lovett, James Elkins (Angela) Lovett, Samantha Elizabeth Lovett and Sarah Marie Lovett; and great-grandfather of Owen Elkins Lovett and Ivy Lynn Hope Sanning. He was preceded in death by his sisters Gladys, Lucille, Hazel, Bea, and a brother Elkins.
Funeral services will be 10:00am Friday, January 18, 2019 in Edwards Funeral Home Chapel, with burial following at Roselawn Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 5:00 to 7:00pm Thursday January 17, 2019 at Edwards Funeral Home. Services are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
