Polk and Chicot County officials, as well as investigators with the Arkansas State Police say that while the investigation in the disappearance and death of Kevin Birdwell earlier in the month is ongoing, that same investigation keeps them from commenting on any aspect of the case.

Birdwell, 51, was the owner and operator of Birdwell’s ATV/UTV Adventures on Polk County Road 61 at the time of his death. He had previously been a partner in Hawk’s Overlook ATV Rental a business he owned with Jerry Walters of Springhill, Louisiana.

Birdwwell had residences in both Board Camp in Polk County and Springhill, according to officials.

Birdwell’s body was located Saturday, July 15, and was sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab to identify a cause of death. Birdwell’s body was found more than 230 miles away from his cabin in Polk County

Birdwell was last heard from on Wednesday, July 12, when his girlfriend spoke to him via phone. When she could not reach him on Thursday, July 13, she sent neighbors to check on him on Thursday evening, and reported him as missing on Friday morning.

Polk County Sheriff Scott Sawyer said there were no signs of foul play at Birdwell’s cabin and that his truck, motorcycle, and dog were all there when they were searching for him on Friday.

Anyone with potential information about the case is asked to contact the Polk County Sheriff’s Department at 479-394-2511.
