From Logan County sheriff Boyd Dan Hicks in a press release:

“Michael Chase Hurst entered a guilty plea to multiple charges in Logan County Circuit Court on Friday, August 25th, 2017 and was sentenced to 30 years in the Arkansas Department of Corrections.

Eighteen years of the sentence will be suspended provide Hurst satisfactorily adheres to the terms of his sentence (12 years) and subsequent parole.

Hurst was also ordered to pay fines, costs and restitution totaling approximately $30,000.

Hurst was part of a theft ring that was operating in Logan, Johnson, Yell, Franklin and Sebastian Counties when I took office and is the last of that group to be sentenced to the Arkansas Department of Corrections.

I would like to thank all the Citizens and Law Enforcement Agencies as well as my Deputies who put in many long hours working these cases that eventually led to the capture and conviction of these individuals.

If you have knowledge of anyone committing thefts in your community please notify your local Law Enforcement Agency as soon as possible. Any information provided to us will be held in strict confidence and acted upon immediately.”

Hurst, 32, was originally charged with theft of property $1,000 to $5000, criminal mischief in the 2nd degree, criminal trespass and felony breaking and entering fir crimes that occurred October 27, 2016.

Hurst had also earlier drawn a 24-month sentence in Sebastian County for Theft by Receiving for crimes committed November of 2016
