FORT SMITH - The City of Fort Smith said on Tuesday that Hunts Park is in for a major renovation in the coming weeks and months. A building permit was issued for some $2,500,000 in renovations that will be implemented by the Fort Smith Boys and Girls Club. The project will be facilitated by Glidwell Construction.

It was announced in January that the project would take place thanks to a $1,000,000 donation from the First National Bank of Fort Smith. Renovations will include artificial turf, a press box, and upgrades to restrooms and concession stands.

The estimated date for completion is in January.

Other construction permits include:

  • Alterations to the lease space at 6220 Massard currently occupied by Anytime Fitness. The project is valued at $600,000.
  • A parking lot project valued at $380,000 at Pradco-Thill, 3601 Jenny Lind.
  • Repair of building damage and a conference room remodel at Bank of the Ozarks’ 2520 Zero Street location. The cost is estimated at $140,000.
