FORT SMITH - Some sports radio programs in the River Valley will be changing channels for the time being.
The Fort Smith Radio Group has moved sports programming that has been heard on 103.1 FM for the last twelve years, to both sides of the dial at 1580 AM and 101.1 FM. Programming heard on the radio station has included the Dan Patrick Show, and Arkansas staple Drive Time Sports with Randy Rainwater and Rick Schaeffer. Fox Sports 103.1 was also the home of UA-Fort Smith Lion basketball, which also makes the move to the new station.
101.1 FM will continue to be the home of Van Buren Pointer sports on the radio, while the Alma Airedale games previously heard on 103.1 FM will move to “The Marshal”, which is the nickname for KFPW 1230 AM/96.7 FM.
The stations are owned by longtime local broadcasters Bill and Karen Pharis.
Is this a temporary move to 101.1? If so, any idea how long? Thanks.
