Fort Smith police responded to a call regarding a death investigation in 3000 block of Willow just after 12:30 p.m. on Friday afternoon and discovered two bodies in the residence.

Upon arrival, officers spoke with two men who reported coming to the address to check on their parents after phone calls went unanswered. They reported all doors and windows were locked, but could see their parents inside a sunroom at the back of the residence.

They reported their parents were unresponsive, and backed away until police arrived.

Officers located the bodies of a 47-year-old white female sitting on a couch, and a 55-year-old white male lying on the floor of the sunroom.

Both appeared to have a single gunshot wound, and a semi-automatic pistol was located on the floor between them. No other signs of injury or struggle were found.

Evidence at the scene suggests a possible murder-suicide, but the investigation is ongoing.

At this time, no names are being released.
