An interstate encounter between a 2012 Chrysler 200 and a 2016 Freightliner ended in tragedy Monday night as a Florida woman died as the result of the two vehicle collision in Sequoyah County.

Yvonne Joyner, 56, of Dover, Florida suffered head and internal and external injuries in a crash with a semi-truck and was pronounce dead at the scene of the accident, which occurred about one mile west of Webbers Falls on Interstate 40.

Joyner was a passenger in a vehicle driven by Christopher Joyner, 36, also of Dover , Florida which struck the tractor-trailer rig when Joyner merged too quickly from the I-40 eastbound ramp.

According to the OHP report, the Joyner vehicle exited the highway on the right side and rolled one and a half time before coming to rest on the left side of the vehicle. The Webbers falls fire department had to use the jaws of life o extract the victim from the vehicle.

Christopher Joyner was transported to a Muskogee hospital where he was treated and released. The driver of the semi-tractor, Adrian Russell, 47, of Lake Havasu, Arizona was not inurued in the wreck,

OHP officials said the accident occurred at just after 8:45 p.m. Monday night.
