The Florida man wanted out of Franklin County for an alleged incident in which he put a knife to the throat of one woman and slashed the arm of her male companion at a national Forest recreation area and campground this month was booked into the Collier County Adult Detention Center in Naples, Florida, according to officials in that facility.

Michael Leon Warrington, 49, of Chipley, Fla., was booked into the detention center on a warrant out of another Florida county for failing to pay $6,146 in child support over an undetermined amount of time.

He also now has a second-degree battery warrant out of Arkansas, stemming from the July 3 altercation along the Mulberry River north of Ozark. The incident occurred at the Huggins Loop Campground of the Redding Recreation Area not far off the Highway 23 “Pig Trail.”

The couple, from Oklahoma, were taking a float trip down the popular canoeing stream when they say the pulled off near Warrington’s camp site. The couple conversed with Warrington and drank beer for over an hour but they allege when they tried to leave Warrington struck the male with a large knife and put a knife to the throat of the female.

The couple escaped, continued downstream in the canoe and asked others at a take out point along the river to call 911.

Warrington is a Navy veteran and regular tour member of the WSOP Poker Tour. His family says he has been staying at various campgrounds across the country to save money while he travels between tournaments.
