LITTLE ROCK - There was rainfall and lots of it overnight Wednesday, so much in fact that schools and businesses were forced to close due to flash flooding.
The Pulaski County Special School District, as well as schools in neighboring Benton and Bryant closed due to high waters that covered many of the rural roadways in Pulaski and Saline Counties.
In Shannon Hills, Mayor Mike Kemp took to social media Thursday morning, posting pictures of water covered roads, and announcing that city services such as activities at the local senior center would be cancelled for the day as well.
“There are many roads and streets flooded throughout Saline an Pulaski County,” Kemp reported. “More rain is coming let’s hope it is slower than the earlier downpours. Your Shannon Hills Police Department, Fire Department and Public Works Department are all out trying to keep you safe and do what they can to help.”
Little Rock National Airport reported Thursday morning that the airfield had seen 4.18 inches of rain over the course of a six hour period.
