FORT SMITH - As the needs for area residents dealing with flooding begin to mount, a number of credible organizations are beginning fundraising effort to help with relief.
The United Way of Fort Smith announced this week that they have an easy way for people to help, than all be facilitated through a smartphone.
“If you are looking for a way to help our neighbors affected by the flooding we are accepting donations,” the United Way said on social media. “You may also make a monetary donation by texting flood2019 to 91999. 100% donations made will benefit those affected in the River Valley.”
The congregation of Grand Avenue Baptist Church in Fort Smith released the following regarding opportunities to serve:
“Want to get your hands dirty in helping the River Valley recover after the water recedes?
Join us this Sunday (3-5pm) as Grand Avenue will be hosting a training for anyone interested in helping. You’ll get an overview of everything that we’ll be doing (plus training) to marshal the combined efforts of hundreds of community volunteers (not just our church) to make an impact on the residents of the River Valley in the weeks and months to come.
Help pass the word along. Let’s continue to work together to keep the#rivervalleystrong .
