FORT SMITH - After decades of service to the community, officials with the Fianna Hills Country Club have confirmed that they will cease operations at the end of the month.
Constructed on the city’s south side in 1973, the club has hosted thousands of golf games, weddings, civic events, and social functions as one of the premiere clubs of its’ type in Western Arkansas. In an e-mail to members obtained by InsideFortSmith.Com, management indicated that December 31st would be the last day of operations.
The club committed to providing help in finding alternatives for those with events already scheduled on the 2019 calendar.
According to an article this week in Talk Business and Politics, the club has been close to shuttering before after sustainability became a question in 2014. The publication indicated the club employees some fifty people, and had around 250 members at the time of the announcement.
