An employee of an Oklahoma loan business has been arrested by the Oklahoma Bureau of Investigation after she allegedly embezzled $427,699 over a four and a half year period.
Carolyn Hignite, 45, is accused of embezzling the funds from her former employer, Anchor Financial Services in Roland to support a gambling habit.
According to the OSBI report, Hignite prepared and approved over 120 false loan applications in a variety of names and cash out the money realized from those loans.
Agents arrested Hignite at the Sequoyah County Jail when she turned herself in Monday. Hignite was released on a $5000 bond according to Sequoyah County jail administrators.
Officials said the scheme had been ongoing since December of 3012.
