Vehicle accidents claimed the lives of eight individuals over the past week, including out of state victims from Mississippi and Oklahoma.
The eight fatalities push the tate wide death toll to 382 o the year according to the Arkansas State Police.
A seventy year-old from Purcell, Oklahoma perished in a Carroll County accident on Friday afternoon.
Police say that Earl Carr was driving a 2010 Honda south on State Highway 187 about three miles south of beaver when his right rear wheel went off the roadway causing the vehicle to go in a ditch. Carr over corrected an the Honda came back onto the roadway and overturned. The vehicle then went back into the ditch.
Carr was pronounced dead at the scene by the Caroll County coroner’s office.
A Mississippi man died on Friday a one vehicle crash in Conway County when the Peterbilt semi he was driving exited the roadway, traveled through a fence where the undercarriage struck with a dry creek bed an the truck wound u in the middle of a field.
Truck driver Elbert Floyd Johnson Jr., 44, of Kosiusko, Mississippi died in the accident which occurred hortly after 11 a.m. on Friday on State Highway 92 just east of Hogan Creek Road.
It appears that some sort of medical episode may have occurred before the accident happened.
One person died and another suffered injuries in a single-vehicle crash Friday night.
According to a preliminary crash report with Arkansas State Police, the crash happened on Highway 62, north of Highway 1 in Piggott. shortly after 8:30.
The report states a 1995 Chevy Pickup was “driving southbound when it blew a front tire, struck an embankment to a private driveway, and overturned.”
The passenger, 58-year-old Charles Lucus, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the truck, 34-year-old Joshua Hurte, was taken to Regional One Health in Memphis for treatment of his injuries.
According to the report, weather conditions were clear and the road was dry at the time of the crash.
One man died and a woman was injured after their vehicles collided north of Harrison on Oct. 4 - Arkansas State Police released information on the crash on Saturday.
According to the preliminary report, 85-year-old Lex McCormick of Harrison was eastbound on Sunset Court just before 8 p.m., when he failed to yield his vehicle to oncoming traffic at the intersection of Highway 7 and struck a southbound vehicle driven by 63-year-old Sandra Jackson of Harrison.
McCormick was transported to a Springfield hospital, where he
succumbed to his injuries. The body was turned over to the Greene
County Medical Examiner’s Office.
A one-vehicle fiery crash Wednesday night in Izard County led to a fatality. According to the Arkansas State Police, the unidentified individual was pronounced dead at the scene east of Calico Rock.
Senior Corporal Mark Morton reports the vehicle was eastbound on Arkansas Highway 56 when it ran off the left side of the road. The vehicle struck a tree and caught fire.
The deceased’s body was transported to the Arkansas State Crime Lab in Little Rock following the 11:30 p.m. accident.
A twenty-eight year old Cabot woman died as the result of a two vehicle crash on I-40 eastbound just east of JFK Boulevard in Pulaski County at 5 a.m. on Tuesday.
ASP officials say Jennifer Jackson was driving a 2003 Chevrolet on the interstate when he car left the roadway, over corrected, struck a concrete barrier then overturned as it returned to the roadway. A 199 Jeep driven by Casey Sumpter struck the Jackson vehicle as it came to rest
Jackson was taken to Baptist Hospital in North Little Rock where she died of her injuries.
A collision on Interstate 30 on Monday morning killed one Mablevale woman and injured the drivers of the other vehicles involved in the accident.
According to a preliminary Arkansas State Police report, two vehicles were driving westbound on the highway at the 83-mile marker near Friendship (Hot Spring County) at about 11:46 a.m.
Broc A. Murphy, 51, of Mabelvale was driving 2015 Dodge Ram. He was changing from the left to right lanes when he struck the rear of a 2013 Honda Pilot driven by Virgil Kelley, 84, of Benton. The Kelley vehicle ran off the road and flipped into the trees off the highway.
Kelley was injured but his wife, Darla S. Kelley, 75, of Benton, was killed.
Murphy’s truck also ran off the road and struck a tree. He was injured.
Trooper 1st Class Marshall T. Williams investigated the accident for the Arkansas State Police.
A 22-year-old man Lonoke man died after the vehicle he was driving overturned on an Arkansas road early Monday morning, state police said.
The single-vehicle crash happened around 7 a.m. as Adam Criswell was heading west on Sandhill Road in Lonoke County, according to the report.
Criswell lost control of the 1999 Mazda as it veered off the road’s south side, causing it to travel off the north side and overturn.
Police say Criswell, who was ejected, suffered fatal injuries. No other injuries were reported.
Travel conditions at the time of the crash were described as clear and dry.
