David Lee Lovvorn, 71, of Fort Smith, passed from this life December 12, 2018 in Tulsa. He was born November 5, 1947, in Carrollton, Georgia, to the late Frank and Minnie Anne Kent Lovvorn. David was a veteran and a pilot in the United States Navy. He was retired from ABF as an Inside Sales Supervisor. He was previously employed with Tyson Foods and OK Foods. He was a very active member at St. Paul UMC, where he served on the administrative council and as a head usher.
David also served on the Sebastian County Park and Recreation Board of Trustees, was past president of Fort Smith Soccer, where he was instrumental in designing, building and fundraising for the complex. Also, he was instrumental in bringing Church League Baseball to St. Paul UMC. David served many years as Treasurer of the league.
David was an avid golfer. He was much better than the average golfer. If he wasn’t on the golf course, he was at Lake Tenkiller on his boat with his friends and family. He truly loved his family.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Patricia; two sons, Jeffrey Lovvorn and his wife Jayme of Economy, Indiana and Drew Lovvorn and his wife Kristen of Van Buren; two granddaughters, Makaya and Kendall Lovvorn; and two grandsons, Caleb and Gabe Lovvorn; his brother, Kent Lovvorn of Carrolton, Georgia; brother-in-law, Dr. Norman Angell and his wife Carolee; nieces, Lindy Upton and her husband Judson, Robin Smyth and her husband Jeff, Kelsey Angell and Dr. Jillian Threadgill; nephews, Robert Kent (Bo) Lovvorn and Matthew Angell and his wife Michele; great nieces and nephews, Henry Oliver Upton and Ally, Ryan and Tyler Angell; as well as numerous cousins and their spouses. David is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Elizabeth Anne Lovvorn; and son, Chip Lovvorn.
Fort Smith funeral services will be 11:00am Monday December 17, 2018 at St. Paul United Methodist Church. The family will greet friends from 1:00 to 4:00pm Sunday December 16, 2018 at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel. Local arrangements are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
Carrollton funeral arrangements will be 10:00 am Thursday, December 20, 2018 at Almon Funeral Home Chapel, with burial following at Carroll Memory Gardens. Services in Carrollton are under the direction of Almon Funeral Home.
