COLUMBIA, SC - Arkansas Razorback head coach Bret Bielema expressed frustration in the postgame press conference following his team’s 48-22 loss to the South Carolina Gamecocks.
“I’m very, very disappointed for our players, our fans and everyone that supports us. I thought we had a great week coming in.” Bielema stated as he opened his session with reporters.
Some of the key moments that he addressed, included a third quarter where the Hogs were outscored 17-0. “The third quarter was one of the most frustrating quarters I’ve ever been associated with.” Bielema recalled.
One aspect of the third quarter he focused on, was the Gamecocks’ ability to run the ball, and Arkansas’ inability to stop it. “I think there was a time in the third quarter where we really needed to make a big play and they got about four 8- to 10-yard runs.” the Coach stated.
Bielema says he knows fans are growing exhausted of the Razorbacks’ mediocrity in the 2017 season.
“I understand why people are frustrated. And nobody is more frustrated than me and the people that are.” he said in his opening remarks.
The head coach also says he will try to keep players moving forward amid the barrage of fan frustrations.
“I think when you’re in the house it’s a lot easier to ignore than people think. As coaches, you know what this game is and what to do. Personally, as a head coach, I have to be careful about how I act because that can wear off on everyone else.”
The Hogs fall to 2-3 and are winless in the SEC as they travel to Alabama next Saturday.
