FORT SMITH - The National Weather Service says that most of the Arklahoma region will be front and center for expected severe weather on Friday.

The Tulsa Forecast Office said Wednesday that a strong storm system is expected to move into the area tomorrow night and early Friday increasing the chances of severe thunderstorms for mid-afternoon, with additional development into the evening hours.

“Storms along the dryline will have the potential to become supercells with the threat for baseball size hail, damaging winds, including the possibility for a few tornadoes.” Meteorologists said. “The severe weather threat will shift east of the region shortly after midnight.”

The Weather Service says that behind the dry line, elevated fire weather conditions will develop Friday afternoon as dry and gusty southwest winds develop over portions of northeast Oklahoma.
