ALMA - The Alma Chamber of Commerce is using a business networking event to help an initiative to feed hungry souls. The organization is asking business people headed to this evening’s “Networking At Night” event to bring a non-perishable food item along with them.

“Arvest Bank has partnered with Community Services Clearinghouse, River Valley Regional Food Bank and United Way of Fort Smith Area for the 1 Million Meals initiative, a two-month, bank-wide effort to provide one million meals or more to those in need.” the Chamber said in an announcement. “Food banks report an increased food need in the summer when children don’t have the benefit of school lunch programs. Arvest Bank will be collecting nonperishable food and monetary donations for this campaign from April 2 through June 2.”

Tonight’s event will take place at the Alma Arvest Bank location at 408 Highway 64 West. Festivities begin at 5:30 PM with food and drink provided.
