Travis arrested on drug charges; not confirmed as suspect in deaths

Police arrested Brian Bliss Travis, 37, of Mena in the early morning hours Wednesday on drug charges.

Travis was the live-in boyfriend of Bethany Jo Wester, who disappeared early last week and her body was discovered Tuesday.

Polk County authorities will not confirm if Travis is a suspect or person of interest in the bodies being found connected to him in the past week.

Wednesday night, a Morgan Nick Alert was issued for Wester’s two children, Reilly James Scarbrough, age 10, and his sister Acelynn Carrie Wester, age 2.

Wester’s body was found Tuesday in a secluded Polk County location southeast of Cove in Polk County. The body of her uncle, 66-year-old Steven J. Payne was located at his residence in Hatfield on Thursday. The 2-year-old’s body was found Friday in the same area as her mother’s body.

Officials have confirmed all three deaths are being investigated as homicides and they are still searching for the 10-year-old boy.

On Wednesday, a search was conducted at 1110 7th Street in Mena. Wester is listed as one of the owners of that property. Authorities cannot confirm what evidence, if any, was collected at that scene.
