VAN BUREN - Police report that a child was hit by a car in a residential neighborhood Thursday night. The incident reoportedly happened in the 200 block of Azure Hills Drive around 9:00 PM.
Sgt. Jonathan Weir with the Van Buren Police Department tells us the victim was a six year old boy. The boy sustained severe injuries as a result of the accident and was flown by helicopter to Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock.
“In accordance with Arkansas State Law, the driver of the vehicle was given field sobriety tests and submitted to a toxicology sample. There have been no charges filed against the driver,” stated Sgt. Jonathan Weir.
“As is standard with these investigations, it will be forwarded to Crawford County Prosecuting Attorney Marc Mccune for his review.”
Weir tells us the child is still in critical condition at this time.
