RUSSELLVILLE - The man who the Sallisaw Police Department says was the culprit in a home invasion on the Fourth of July has been arrested in Pope County. Authorities caught up with John R. Broomfield, a Hartman resident, at an apartment complex on Thursday.
Broomfield is accused of attacking an elderly man after breaking into his house on the holiday afternoon. Police had tracked his movements after he began using the victim’s credit card in the Van Buren area several days later.
“We would like to thank everyone that assisted in identifying Mr. Broomfield through the pictures that were posted on Facebook and news media outlets.” the Sallisaw Police Department said on Facebook. “It is a blessing when a community and people abroad come together to help.”
