TULSA - The National Weather Service says that locally heavy rainfall could be possible across much of the region tonight.

“Showers and thunderstorms are forecast tonight through Thursday, with the focus over areas south of Interstate 44,” Forecasters said. “Locally heavy rainfall will be possible, especially across parts of far southeast Oklahoma, where totals through Thursday morning may approach 2 inches with locally higher amounts possible.”

Meteorologists say storm chances could linger throughout the weekend.

“Showers and thunderstorms will likely be ongoing Thursday morning across parts of southeast Oklahoma and into northwest Arkansas.” the Weather Service said. “This activity will diminish through the day, with dry conditions by the evening hours. An unsettled weather pattern will continue next week, with several storms moving across the area, bringing chances of thunderstorms just about each day.”
