TULSA - The National Weather Service says heavy rainfall is likely across much of the region this week.

“A period of unsettled weather will prevail for much of the upcoming week as a surface cold front approaches in conjunction with an upper system,” Meteorologists said. “While there will be severe weather potential in the Monday to Wednesday period, an increased potential for heavy rainfall and flash flooding will likely exist, especially Tuesday and Wednesday as the front moves slowly across the area.”

Forecasters predict that rain will taper off Thursday as cooler air moves in behind the front. Details concerning heavy rainfall and flash flood potential, along with specific severe threats will be refined with later forecasts.
